About Us
Through our Neighborhood Trees program, homeowners buy discounted trees to plant with their neighbors at weekend plantings. During the first year of our three-year Plant It Portland! campaign, we planted more than 4,000 street and yard trees in Portland and more than 500 street and yard trees in Vancouver, WA, and Beaverton, OR. Through our Green Space Initiative, trained crew leaders guide volunteers at weekend events to restore public natural areas and green spaces between freeways and neighborhoods. Since Friends of Trees was founded by Richard Seidman in 1989, we have planted more than 430,000 trees and native plants. This year we established a new office in Eugene, OR. Friends of Trees is a member of the Coalition for a Livable Future, Alliance for Community Trees, Oregon Community Trees, and EarthShare Oregon. We meet all 20 BBB Charity Standards. As part of Portland's Grey to Green Initiative, Friends of Trees launched our Plant It Portland! campaign to plant more neighborhood trees than ever before. Our Neighborhood Trees program also partners with Vancouver, WA, Beaverton, OR, and many others.
Our Green Space Initiative program partners with Metro, the Oregon Dept. of Transportation, and others to green the I-205 Multi-Use Path. Numerous organizations also partner with us to restore natural areas throughout the four-county region.
