If you want to save the planet, meet new friends, protect the environment, or improve your neighborhood, Friends of Trees has great volunteer options in Salem, Oregon. Saturday community tree plantings are held November through April. Most of our events run 9am - 1pm, unless otherwise noted.
Interested in planting trees? Sign-up using our Salem Volunteer Interest Form. We'll respond with more details about these planting events.
An awesome lineup of events is scheduled for the 2016-2017 planting season. Check out dates and locations below.
More details, including event addresses, will be posted to our Online Planting Calender soon. Click on the link provided to view our interactive calendar.
We are seeking volunteer Crew Leaders who love to be outside, have experience with or interest in learning how to plant trees, and want to be a part of making immediate and lasting change in Salem neighborhoods and parks. Our coming planting season will be the biggest in Salem yet -- and we need more Crew Leaders to make it possible!
To become a Crew Leader, an individual must attend a one time training and be able to commit to guiding small groups of planting volunteers at 4 or more Saturday morning planting events (see our list of events above!). Once trained as a Crew Leader, volunteers receive our popular green "Tree Team" t-shirt, are given other swag, and invited to attend optional special events and trainings.
Our annual Crew Leader Training will be held on Saturday, October 22nd, 9am - 3pm. Space is limited and this is a popular training. Reserve your space soon!
While we welcome anyone ages 6+ at our planting events, the Crew Leader volunteer role is best suited for those ages 16 and older.
Questions about this role? Email or call us in the Volunter & Outreach Team at Volunteer@FriendsofTrees.org, 503-595-0213.
Calling all tree-planters! Our community tree planting events are held Saturday mornings (9am - 1pm) from November - May and we always need more help! Planting with Friends of Trees is a great way to get outside with your friends or family (or by yourself!), learn how to plant trees, meet people, fulfill service learning requirements, and help make the Salem area greener and healthier - all in a few short hours!
Volunteer as a group! Friends of Trees planting events are excellent ways for groups to learn team-building skills, have fun together and give back to the community. RSVPs are kindly requested for groups of 5 or more people - please click HERE to do so.
If you're under 18 years old, we require you bring a signed copy of our Youth Waiver with you to the event.
