Plant by Bike begins this Saturday

Planting by bike is no small chore.

It’s an impressive feat to transport 12-foot tall street trees and all the tools necessary to plant them using only pedal power.

This is what Friends of Trees volunteers mean when they say ‘Plant by Bike.’

While volunteers are encouraged to bike to all Friends of Trees plantings, this Saturday’s Neighborhood Trees planting in Center, Kerns, Laurelhurst and Sunnyside will look a little different:

The Friends of Trees Plant by Bike planting begins at 9 a.m. but be sure to get there early to register and enjoy coffee and tasty treats. The staging area is Sunnyside Centenary United Church at 3520 SE Yamhill St.

Check back here next week for complete coverage of all four of this Saturday’s plantings. Check out the calendar to find the nearest planting.
