Be a Crew Leader!

Friends of Trees offers three leadership opportunities: Crew Leader, Neighborhood Coordinator and Summer Inspector.A recent survey showed that people who plant with us love our Crew Leaders. Crew Leaders assist Friends of Trees staff in organizing and implementing natural area and neighborhood tree planting projects.  They interact directly with volunteers; they train their crew to plant native trees and shrubs, give a safety talk, and supervise volunteers throughout the planting event. Every November Friends of Trees offers a Crew Leader training for each of our planting programs. Please see the dates below for our 2008 Crew Leader Trainings.

Seasonal Leadership Positions

Our Neighborhood Trees program relies on special leaders who attend our summer Neighborhood Coordinator training. By working with a team of volunteers to organize their neighborhood plantings, they help homeowners buy trees and make planting day fun. If you are interested in this opportunity and want to see if your neighborhood needs a coordinator please contact Whitney Dorer at 503.282.8846 ext. 21 or e-mail at whitneyd@friendsoftrees.org

Our Summer Inspector volunteers check on all our street and yard trees the summer after they were planted. We have closed this position for the season.  Please check back with us in early May if you are interested.
