Neighborhood Trees

This fall Friends of Trees will launch the second season of our three-year Plant It Portland! campaign. Between October 2010 and April 2011, we planted 4,545 street and yard trees in Portland, Beaverton, Vancouver, and Eugene. We expect to plant about 6,000 trees this fall and winter!

Check our planting calendar to see if a planting date has been set for your neighborhood during the 2011-12 season. If one hasn't been set, please consider becoming a Neighborhood Coordinator so we can add your neighborhood to our calendar. It's a fun and inexpensive way to bring your neighbors together to make your neighborhood greener.

Once a planting has been scheduled in your neighborhood, you can order a tree for your home. Sign up now for the greatest selection. Signing up doesn't obligate you to buy. It makes it possible for a city forester to inspect your planting strip for a location where a tree can be planted. After the inspection, we'll send you a list of recommended trees.

For just $35 to $75, you'll receive an eight- to 12-foot tall tree, delivery, hole digging, planting assistance, mulch, stakes, and follow-up maintenance checks: a $200 value. You'll pay up to 70 percent less than you'd pay a contractor. We also offer scholarships to people who can't afford a tree.

People who plant with us enjoy meeting their neighbors at their planting event and sharing a potluck lunch afterward. Our short video shows how easy and fun it is to plant with us.
