We make it easy by offering tree selections tailored to your planting strip width and the growth space available if you have overhead wires. We also help with any required permitting.
Portland and Vancouver residents need a free permit to plant trees in the public right-of-way. If you plant a tree yourself, please start by contacting Portland Urban Forestry at 503-823-4489 or Vancouver Urban Forestry at 360-619-1132.
Neighborhood Trees
People like you are making Northwest neighborhoods greener every weekend!
Last season, we planted more than 5,200 street and yard trees in Portland, Beaverton, Vancouver and Eugene. Our partnership with Portland Bureau of Environmental Services through the Grey to Green Initiative made it possible for more homeowners than ever before to plant trees in East Portland neighborhoods. This 2011-12 Annual Report to BES tells the dramatic story through figures, facts and photos.
Find your neighborhood's next planting date on our Portland-Vancouver calendar or our Eugene-Springfield calendar. Or see if we're planting in your neighborhood by typing in your address on our Plant It! Programs page. If a planting is scheduled in your neighborhood, you can order a tree online. Signing up doesn't obligate you to buy. It makes it possible for a city forester to inspect your planting strip for a location where a tree can be planted. After the inspection, we'll send you a list of recommended trees.
For $35-$75, you'll receive an 8-12' tree, delivery, hole digging, planting assistance, mulch, stakes, and follow-up maintenance checks: a $200 value!
We also offer scholarships to people who can't afford a tree. Our short video shows how easy and fun it is to plant with us.
