Arborist Partnerships
Friends of Trees is pleased to partner with many arborists in the Portland-Vancouver, Salem, and Eugene-Springfield areas. Our Arborist Partners make significant contributions to the health of our urban forest and many of them volunteer with Friends of Trees and donate their time to leading planting crews and assisting with skills-based trainings.
All are certified by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). Although we appreciate the contributions made by all of our Arborist Partners, Friends of Trees does not endorse individual arborists.

Tips for finding the right arborist for you and your tree.
- Ask for references and consider more than one bid.
- Ask for a certified arborist, someone who has passed the International Society of Arboriculture’s extensive certification exam covering all aspects of tree care.
- Hire someone who is bonded, licensed and insured.
- Membership in professional organizations such as the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), the National Arborist Association (NAA) or the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA) demonstrates professional accreditation and knowledge of best practices.
- A good arborist won’t recommend topping and should try to talk you out of it if you request to have a tree topped.
- Never allow a climber to use spikes or spurs to climb your tree unless the tree is to be removed.
