Pink Martini's FundFest 2008

Information: What a fun way to support Friends of Trees! FundFest is a four-night concert event from June 3 to 6 to benefit four local nonprofits - Friends of Trees, KBOO, Outside In, and Bicycle Transportation Alliance. Pink Martini and McMenamin's Crystal Ballroom will donate 100 percent of the net proceeds from the four concerts to the four nonprofits!

Description: On Tuesday, June 3, Friends of Trees will be the honored nonprofit partner. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 503-224-4400. Portland Cello Project will be the opening band on June 3.

Urban Forestry: A Tool for Sustainable Communities

Location: World Forestry Center, 4033 SW Canyon Rd, Portland

Information: The 2008 Annual Oregon Urban & Community Forestry Conference is organized by Oregon Community Trees and the Oregon Department of Forestry Urban & Community Forestry Program in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the Pacific Northwest Chapter ISA. A morning keynote address by Ray Tretheway, Founder of Sacramento Tree Foundation, will be followed by presentations on the role of trees in advancing sustainability and on quantifying the environmental services that trees provide. Panel discussions after lunch will address trees and sustainability and emerging issues of carbon and climate change.

Description: Registration is $85 before May 15, $95 after May 15, and $40 for students. Registration covers lunch, course materials, and refreshments. Sponsors of this year's conference are The World Forestry Center, Friends of Trees, Portland General Electric and The Davey Resource Group.

Patron Reception for Pink Martini FundFest

Description: Thomas Lauderdale will perform Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, and Pink Martini band members will thank the four nonprofits they're supporting through FundFest 2008. The $100 admission includes hosted bar and hors d'oeuvres.
