Plant a Gift Tree or Grove
Give a Green Gift in Honor of Others or as a Memorial Gift
Planting commemorative trees to honor loved ones or to celebrate a life event is a wonderful way to leave a legacy for future generations. For $25 Friends of Trees will plant a young native tree in honor or memory of a friend or loved one and send a card to the person you designate acknowledging your gift. For $50 we will plant a grove of six native trees.
Using our online "give now" form, you can choose the background you prefer and write a personalized message for your card. Commemorative Tree donations are tax-deductible.

All who purchased and received commemorative trees since last February were invited to plant their trees at our annual commemorative planting on Sunday, March 16, 2008, at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. The 300 participants planted Red-Flowering Currant, Big-leaf Maple, Oregon White Oak, Red Alder, Black Hawthorn, Oregon Ash, Oregon White Oak, Black Cottonwood, Douglas-fir, and Cascaras.
Rose High Bear, Executive Producer of Wisdom of the Elders, gave a blessing at the planting: Oh, Tunkasila, Grandfather, Unci, Grandmother, Wakan Tanka, Great Spirit, who watch over us from these four great directions. Thank you for this beautiful day and for our lives on this good road that we travel. We ask that you look down upon us today, Tunkasila and bless us as we gather to honor our loved ones and commemorate the special blessings you have provided to us. We also ask that you watch over and bless our family circles, Tunkasila. We especially ask that you watch over and bless those who we are honoring today, including those who have journeyed on to the Spirit World. We thank you for the blessings of health, guidance and power that you provide to all of God’s Creation. We thank you for the blessings of this land and the river and everything else that surrounds us from this sacred spot, and especially these trees that we are planting with love today to honor and acknowledge our loved ones. Pilamayaye (thank you), wopila! (with thanksgiving), Mitakuye Oyasin (we are all related).
