Please join Friends of Trees in partnership with the Portland Bureau of Environmental Services for two restoration work parties in SW Portland. We will plant at the South Portland Riverbank in Willamette Park, SW Macadam Ave and Nebraska St, on Sat., Feb. 16, and at the SW Texas Wetland, SW Texas and SW 26th Ave, on Sat., March 8. Both plantings are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. No experience is necessary, and people of all ages are welcome. Friends of Trees will provide gloves, tools, and guidance. Please wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather.
The SW Portland plantings are part of Friends of Trees’ Natural Area Restoration program, which works to restore urban natural areas in the four-county Portland-Vancouver area. Friends of Trees brings people in the Portland-Vancouver area together to plant and care for city trees and urban natural areas. Since 1989, the more than 340,000 trees and shrubs that Friends of Trees has planted in the Portland-metro area have provided increasing benefits as they grow, cleaning more of our water and air and slowing climate change more each year. |
